Chinese Checkers Variations

CHINESE CHECKERS VARIATIONS

Echka:

This is the modified version of Halma.

Salta

It is two player games played on a 10 x 10 square board with 15 pieces each. This has same movements just as in Halma. All pieces have their own identity.

Hong Kong

This is another variant played using 4 different types of pieces. Here a scoring system will give different scores depending upon whether a player will be able to get certain pieces to the finishing spots.

Telka

This is a 4-player game with 12 pieces each and is played to its best in partnership.

Troke

In this, each player has 4 pieces called as “castles”. The castle is divided into 3 sections, the tower, the wall and the meat. Unless they are captured, they move independently. Only with the help of different kind of piece, the capture can be made. When it is captured, the capturing piece will move the whole unit one space for every piece captured.

Color Halma:

Here the rule of the movement is determined by the color of the square. If apiece starts with dark square, it should remain in the dark squares only, it will not be allowed to jump if it moves one-step diagonally. Apiece, which started with the light square, should remain in the light squares only and will be able to move only by orthogonal jumps.

Marked Halma

Here, each player will mark his corner piece and should get that piece to opposite corner.

Grasshopper:

This is a variant of chessboard where the players will start from 10 squares of corners that are diagonally opposite or 15 on 10 x 10 draughtboards.

Super Halma

This is a standard type of super Halma game. This game is played with nineteen pieces per player on the 10 x 10 international checkers board. On of the main features in this is the altered rule for the jump move.
