CLUE

CLUE VARIATIONS

As with all games, Clue too has its own variations. In England the game is called Cluedo, and in Brazil, it is called Detective. The game has such a successful formula that its fan following has reached several countries and been translated into several different languages.

While most rules remain the same, some variations do not use the dice. Here each player has nine "moves" to use on a turn. Each move goes onto another space counting as one move and an accusation, use of a secret passage, or guess, costing three moves adding more strategy into the game. In another variation, there is a skeleton key to lock and unlock rooms. Obviously, when adapted to different countries, some versions contain different names for characters and weapons as well as a different setting are sometimes used.

Clue is available in almost 40 other countries. Only the North American version of Clue replaces the “Reverend Green”. An interesting variations is in Spanish language version of Clue, the colours of the pawns are different to correspond to different character names An unauthorized variation of Clue has been developed that is an Evangelical Christian board game called Mystery Museum where the goal is to discover who stole an artifact while learning about the Bible. During the concept stage, the mansion included a "gun" room, but this was later removed because it was thought to be too elitist. Clue, the movie, was the first movie to be based after a game. A script for a Monopoly was also written but never produced.
