ORIGIN OF CLUE
Clue is the classic 'whodunnit' game and has been a family favorite for more than five decades. Known as "Clue" in the U.S. and "Cluedo" in Europe, this game puts your deductive and analytical reasoning to the test. If you ever feel like playing the role of a famous detective, definitely indulge in the game of Clue!
The inventor of Clue was a gentleman named Anthony E. Pratt. He described himself as an introvert full of ‘ruminations, speculations and imaginative notions’. Though a seemingly ordinary couple, Anthony and his wife came were specialists in mystery and dark deeds and came up with this whoddunnit murder game of Clue in the year 1944.
After several years of perfecting the mechanics of the game, they proceeded to Waddington Games in Leeds, England to discuss the commercial viability of the game with the Managing Director, Norman Watson. Watson immediately recognized Clue to be a winner and went on to lunch the game in 1949.
Parker Brothers obtained the US rights to Clue from Waddignton and successfully marketed the game from then on. Today, translated in several languages, the game is known in different names in different countries and played across the globe.
It follows a simple set of rules and its now available in different variations too.
