It is said that Captain Cook while on a long sea voyage was often found missing in the evening and the gossips were doing the rounds that he must be having a rendezvous with his mistress. However, it was later discovered that the Captain was simply been playing ‘Connect four’ with the ship's scientists. Thus the game was christened 'The Captain's Mistress'!
