OTHELLO STRATEGY
The game of Othello in itself is a strategically strong game. Each player has to form a strategy in his or her mind as far as moves are concerned. It is therefore similar to chess in a way. The strategy is made while one is playing the game. While one player might aim at turning maximum sides to his advantage, another player might look at a more sophisticated approach. Some of the most successful strategies of Othello are Corners, Edges, Endgame, parity and mobility. Each has its own approach and importance.
A disk at the corner usually remains permanent due to its safe zone. This is because no player can attack from any side. Therefore one can start forming his/her own pieces adjacent to the corners. Edge is a similar technique, where the opponent player cannot directly make any changes in position or sides. Parity is such an important strategy that it led to a change in the perception of the game. Here, the concept changes to keeping the game of the darker side more aggressive than the lighter side, who is supposed to maintain calm and ease. Mobility is another strategy where you try and trap your opponent to play the moves that you can outflank.
Among these, the most important strategy is that of End game. End Game is basically considered to be played during the last twenty moves. Here, the game concentrates on winning rather than trying to oppose the opponent. However, end game strategy comprises of special practices like sweeping and gaining access. With no more space left for disks or any kind of move, the game tends to end there.
Therefore, Othello, now a world famous board game, is fun, fast and intelligent. Go ahead and buy a pack.
